  1. Why do they call it a red bellied woodpecker when the head is clearly the red part? Do ornthologists suffer from spacial orientation problems?

    • Hello Stephanie – So true!! I’ve often wondered the same thing….these birds do have a bit of a red-belly but not near as read as their head! :)
