Inserting slideshows into WordPress

I’ve been playing around with Slideshow Pro for Lightroom and Slideshow Pro Director to see if I could use the two together to build a gallery on this blog. I can…but I’m not sure if I will.   I already have a flickr account and can use Slideshow Pro to connect with my flickr RSS feeds to build slideshows…so I’m not sure I will use Director.  Director is a nice platform but for what I’m doing, flickr is good enough for now.

While playing around, I ran across a cool wordpress plugin called SlidePress.   Slidepress allows you to easily build slideshows in WordPress.  These slideshows can use flickr, Slideshow Pro Director or even WordPress galleries to build the slideshows.

So far I like what I see.   Setup is simple.  Install Slidepress as a WordPress plugin and create a new ‘gallery’.  If using flickr, select ‘media RSS’ and paste the RSS feed for your flickr set/feed.  Insert a simple wordpress short-code into your post and you’re good to go.

Here’s an example of a slideshow built using Slidepress and pointed to my flickr set for Yosemite.

    Nice article and cool landscapes!
Yes I just bought the Slideshow Pro standalone and installed it with Slidepress.
I did not have time to play a lot with it yet as there is a bug but the team is working on it right now.
I am not in a hurry, I just want something easy to manipulate, I mean at least as smooth as WordPress :-)
Now I saw Slideshow Pro Director and I thought it might be even easier and quicker to build galleries but it seems that it is not a standalone but needs Flash.
    What is your opinion/advise?

    THANK YOU!

      Thanks Roger.

Slideshow Pro Director hosts the files but still requires the SSP Flash container to play. It is MUCH easier to use to build galleries with SSP Director than using the standalone version. Let me know if you have any other questions.
