Lesser Scaup – White Rock Lake, Dallas TX
Mon, Jan 25, 2010
I captured this Lesser Scaup at White Rock Lake in Dallas this weekend.
A few of Lesser Scaup’s were swimming quickly by and I barely had time to setup to my liking. I was able to get a few shots while they swam by…and this one is probably my favorite. It isn’t perfect but I think does a good job of showing the Lesser Scaup’s coloring.
Taken with Canon 7D and Canon 500mm f/4 L IS USM.
Enjoy.

You also caught that “peak” in the head feathers, which a good field mark for the species. You’re getting some good shots from the 500mm!
Thanks! The peak is definitely there. The 500mm is a great lens…I’m going to hate to get rid of it.
He’s gorgeous! Great capture!!
Thanks Kerri!
