This male bluebird was a tough capture…he didn’t sit around very long in any one location but I was able to get him for a second.

I picked up the Adorama’s 4-way Focusing Rails recently to try out with my wife’s Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5X Macro lens.
Adorama lists 2 versions of their 4-way Focusing Rails…one for ~$180 and a budget one for ~$80. I’m not sure what the difference is between the two but based on recommendations, I picked the [...]

This is the same Great Horned Owl we saw a few weeks ago (I’m assuming)….we found him around the same location as before and I was able to grab this wonderful shot of him staring at me.
Wasn’t a perfectly clear shot (lots of limbs) but I like it.

I caught this male Cardinal eating seeds at Spring Creek Forest Preserve in Garland TX. Looks like I grabbed the shot at the perfect time….he’d just chomped the seed and spit out the seed. If you look close enough, you’ll see his tongue.

While out scouting for our new Great Horned Owl friend (see photo and video), I heard a ruckus across the creek and noticed this hawk fighting with another hawk.
The 2nd hawk left and this Red-Tailed Hawk landed on a nice perch. This is a pretty good crop from original but I think it crops well.

Remember the Great Horned Owl from yesterday?
Well…we went back today and he was in the SAME TREE! It was a great find.
Tracie got a nice video of Oscar the Great Horned Owl (that’s his name now). Taken with Canon 7D, Canon 100-400mm L with Canon 1.4x Extender.

This isn’t really that great of a photo but I thought the snow on this female Mallard’s back was an interesting shot. If you look at the large version on flickr, you’ll notice some strange ghosting around the snow…not sure what happened there.
