While out taking photos of the incredible snow storm in Dallas with Tracie (see her wonderful photos here), I took a few minutes to capture this bench & tree. I thought the composition was interesting and after a little PP, I saw the colors start to pop out. I think I did a decent job [...]

Here’s a photograph from my 2009 trip to Yellowstone. I grabbed what I thought would be a quick snapshot of the Grand Prismatic Spring and after snapping the photo, I saw these wonderful colors. I think it turned into more than a snapshot. Captured with Canon 5D and Canon 24-105L.

I sent a tweet the other night about being chased by a moose while meandering around Two Ocean Lake in The Grand Teton National Park. I thought I’d expand on that story and provide some commentary and more photos….it was an interesting time for sure! My wife and I (Tracie – a great wedding photographer in [...]

Sharing another backyard bird capture. I caught this White Crowned Sparrow on the back fence last year…love the bokeh and color here. Photo taken with Canon 5D and Canon 100-400mm L IS USM lens.

I shared this photograph of a Bugling Elk that I captured at Yellowstone National Park last year but I wanted to post it again to highlight it. I’m pretty proud of this shot…I caught this Bull Elk at the perfect time. While not the absolutely best technical photograph, it still works well I think. I captured [...]

I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and write a review of my Canon 7D (Check prices at B&H, Adorama and Amazon). It’s a quick review….I love this camera! My main focus is birds, wildlife and landscapes and this camera is an awesome body for wildlife and birding photography. I’ve got my trusty Canon 5D for [...]

Happy new year everyone. I spent the day looking back on the travels of 2009 and the photographs I’ve taken. Many were good, many not so good…some were excellent. I wanted to share the excellent ones with you…I hope you enjoy them too.

I’ve been away from the camera for a while with school, work, business and life in general. I found myself with some free time this afternoon and walked out to the pond with my Canon 5D and 400 5.6 L. I saw a mockingbird sitting in a bush by the water and cranked out a [...]

Tracie and I got really lucky on our trip to Yellowstone & The Grand Tetons last month. We got some great photos. Out of all the photos, I am most proud of my 2 Gray Jay photos….Both turned out wonderful. Taken with my Canon EOS 5D with Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens on and took this [...]

Similar to my previous shot of the sunset over the Grand Tetons, this shot was taken while waiting for the animals to show up one evening. I had my Canon EOS 5D with my Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens on and took this really interesting photo. Enjoy.

Grabbed what I thought would be a quick snapshot of a couple walking through steam at Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park…and it turned into this. Taken with my Canon EOS 5D and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Enjoy.

I previously posted a slideshow that contained the various wildlife photos from our trip to Yellowstone & Grand Tetons…now it’s time for the landscape photos! Most taken with my Canon EOS 5D and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. The first photo (sun & smoke photo) was taken with my Canon EOS 5D [...]

I caught this pine marten at Sheepeater’s Cliff in Yellowstone National Park while we were resting. We pulled into this popular wildlife watching location (and great picnic area) to see what we could see…and I’m glad we did! There were a ton of photographers with their Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM and [...]

Tracie and I were out waiting for the wildlife to show up and saw an amazing sight. The Sun behind a large column of smoke. I grabbed my my Canon EOS 5D with my Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens and took a photo. This is what I capture…quite an interesting shot I think. I did [...]

Tracie and I just spent 7 days in Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton National Park and hated to come back home. I haven’t had a chance to get many photos processed but did get a chance to edit a few wildlife and bird photos and decided to throw a slideshow together for you. All photos [...]

We planted some canna’s in the backyard this year and have been waiting for them to bloom. The red variety bloomed a few weeks ago but the orange & yellow canna’s just opened up…love the color out there now. Taken with my Canon EOS 5D and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM.

I found this shot of a full moon from November 2008…I’m pretty happy with it. Taken with Canon EOS 5D and my Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM using a tripod and remote shutter release. The detail is pretty darn good…but look at the stars surrounding the moon…pretty good capture if I do say so.
