Tracie and I were in Oklahoma over the Easter weekend and decided to take some time to visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

I can still remember the day this tragedy happened in April of 1995. While this terrible event was felt by everyone in the US (and world), it hit those of us from Oklahoma pretty hard…especially those of us that knew people in the building at the time of the bombing.

The event has made a huge impression on me…and has caused me to never set foot on the memorial grounds since the memorial was built.

I finally worked up the nerve to visit the memorial and I’m glad I did. It’s beautiful, calm and well built. It’s also very moving. To stand on those grounds and think about the loss of life and damage wrought on that day is something that’s hard to describe.

If you ever get the opportunity to visit Oklahoma City, please visit this beautiful memorial.

Here’s a photograph of the West gate (the 9:03 AM gate) at sunset. Enjoy…and take a second to think about those 168 people that were killed and the many more thousands of people that were injured physically (and emotionally) on that terrible day in April 1995.

Capture with Canon 5D and Canon 17-40 L.
